Even in big cities music fans can miss when their favourite acts are playing. The solution is a free app for Android and iOS called Bandsintown. Here users can specify their favourite performers but the app can also analyse the music stored on the person’s smartphone.
If there’s a concert in the vicinity, the app automatically reports it. Users can also access information about all the concerts in an area or the complete tour dates of an artist. Until recently Bandsintown functioned only in combination with a Facebook account but the latest update means that users need only provide a valid email address to register.(dpa)
